The (Not So) Hasty Withdrawal
If the Associated Press is to be believed, Sen. Hillary Clinton is prepared to concede the Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama. Of course, as the Wall Street Journal informs us, not everything is as clear-cut as it might appear.
Shortly after the Associated Press reported that Sen. Hillary Clinton was going to concede that Sen. Barack Obama has the delegates to win the nomination in her speech tonight in New York, Clinton's campaign issued a one-line statement refuting the report.
"The AP story is incorrect. Senator Clinton will not concede the nomination this evening," the campaign said.
Yet AP is not refuting their original report. "The former first lady will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race in her speech in New York City," AP reported, citing two senior officials. "But for all intents and purposes, the two senior officials said, the campaign is over."
In any event, we owe a huge H/T to Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Ramirez.
